Secure Beginnings
Welcome to Secure Beginnings.

If you are expecting a child or are the mother of a newborn, and you would like more support, Secure
Beginnings may be the program for you.

Pregnancy and Early Parenting can be a time of "wonder":
Preparing for and welcoming a new baby can be both exciting and scary.  You may wonder about many
things, including the baby's health, who the baby will be like, and how well the two of you will get along.
You may have concerns about how your life will change once the baby is born or you may be experiencing
some of those significant changes in the first months of parenting.

Sometimes becoming a parent triggers difficulties in either the mother or the father or even between them,
The couples problems affect their baby.  Also one or both of you may be feeling overwhelmed with new
responsibilities or with fears and uncertainties, or you may be experiencing increased depression or anxiety.
All of these feelings may make you worry about being the good parent you want to be.

What Secure Beginnings Brings to You:
Families enrolled in Secure Beginnings receive either weekly home visits or attend sessions in the office of a
family therapist specially trained by COR Northwest Family Development Center to provide infant, child,
parent, and family therapy.  These therapists have special training in emotional development.  They help
parents understand their babies better and feel more relaxed.  This leads to a stronger, happier bond
between parent and child.
